AFCGetFileInfo is missing on iTunes 8.2
The recent release of iTunes 8.2 ship with an updated iTunesMobileDevice.dll which is slightly not compatible with previous one. At least, we found an important function “AFCGetFileInfo” is removed from its exported functions. The function is used to look at the type (file or directory) of the entries of the filesystem as well as the size of the file, which is frequently used in file browsing applications like iFunbox. Now iFunbox got instantly crash after start up because on-demand loading of this function fails. For other applications that is hardly linked with iTunesMobileDevice.dll may refuse to start up.
We are seeking for work around.
The problem is just fixed, we released an updated version 0.8.250.160.

To those who’s device is not visible in IFUNBOX, do the folowing:
Make shure you have admin rights.
Unistall all slutty apple software: bonjour, itunes, quicktime, apple mobile service, and apple software update.
Reboot.
Connect your device - that is important!
Install itunes 8.2 with you device connected.
(USB Connection is needed so that you don’t have to run Itunes ever in your life)
During installation, your Iphone will “bimp”.
After installation is complete, do the following:
Unistall bonjour
Unintall itunes
Unistall apple software update.
Leave only apple movile service and Quicktime. You may unistall quicktime, but you have to install QuickTime Alternative. For god forsaken reason, apple mobile driver requires quicktime. Yes, a hardware driver requires a codec to run! “Think different!”
Now. Start i-funbox. You should be able to browse your device.
Please note, that OS 3.0 itunes library is not yet supported by i-funbox, so you’ll have to use alternative player for music.
HOpe the Dev’s will make it available soon.
And yes, bookmarks of favourite filesystem locations would be lovely. or just recents.
June 24th, 2009 at 5:35 am
If you want to use ifunbox with the fw 3.0.
Just copy “iTunesMobileDevice.dll” into ifunbox.exe directory.
You must have ifunbox 0.8.250.160 version.

KPAH’s solution fix the “no device”-problem.
June 24th, 2009 at 7:43 am
To SOLUTION:
Does that mean neither Itunes/AppleMobileService nor Quicktime is not needed anymore?
June 24th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
Solution’s solution fix “no device problem”. Locate dll in “C:\Archivos de programa\Archivos comunes\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin” and copy “iTunesMobileDevice.dll” to iFunBox.exte directory. iFunBox connect to iPhone ok.

Solution was published by Regixtrox (some posts up):
You should find directory “C:\program files\common files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin” and copy “iTunesMobileDevice.dll” to Your directory where iFunBox.exe located. That’s all! iFunBox connect to iPhone ok.

great Juanes, it’ ok with your solution!
thanks!
July 6th, 2009 at 12:12 pm
I don’t have a problem connecting to the iPhone. The problem I have is that when I click on the “iPod Music & Video” area, I get “There are no items to show” and I get “iTunes Database on this device is not recognizable”.
Is this just an i-funbox incompatibility with 3.0 software or is my iTunesDB corrupted?
I went to private/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/iTunes and saw that the iTunesDB filesize is 0 bytes. as well as iTunesControl.
Any ideas? Thanks!

It just tell me “iTunes Database on this device is not recognizable”
I tried other software to check this problem.
TouchCopy 9.01 also failure while reading DB content.

And I tried the sharepod , same result , read nothing.
The only one app could be work fine to read content is Copytrans v3.23.
Hope iFunbox resolve the music issue in new issue.

Like a lot of people here, I am getting the “iTunes Database on this device is not recognizable”. There doesn’t seem to be any solution to this. Is this going to be fixed?
If not are there any other alternative apps that support 3.0?
August 22nd, 2009 at 5:28 pm
hey, does the solution posted by KPAH apply to the message saying: iTunes database not recognizable????
August 28th, 2009 at 3:08 am
was great all was working… I loaded a wack of programs with installious and was in the process of getting a movie player installed and I even was playing some fast and furious…
but all went bad when I decided to turn the post funbox’d accessed itouch off to reboot… bAD move on my part.. as now she is just locked on the Apple logo….
and I am running the latest version… I also remember seeing that i was getting the “iTunes Database on this device is not recognizable”.
i never loaded any music via itunes… so that could be the reason why the database is not setup…

I am new iPhone user (3GS).
I have never installed iTunes. I have quicktime installed.
I installed AppleMobileDeviceSupport and Windows recognizes iPhone. I copied iTunesMobileDevice.dll to same directory as iFunbox. But when I run it, it does not see my iPhone.
Do I have to install iTunes to use iFunbox? Can anyone help?
