Quick fixup for iPhones Jailbroken by Spirit
iFunbox relies on the AFC2 service to access the root file system of iPhones. AFC2 is usually enabled during jailbreak procedures as many previous Jailbreak tools do. If AFC2 serivce is not enabled, iFunbox will recognize it as a jailed iphone and access the file system with AFC service.
Recently iFunbox is found recognizing iPhones jailbroken by blackra1n and spirit as jailed ones. The reason is that the AFC2 service is not enabled in jailbreaking procedure.
A quick fixup is to install a tiny app from Cydia, afc2add to enable the AFC2 service on iPhone. Remember to reboot iPhone after installing.

iPod Touch 2G running JB 3.1.2 and when selecting “iPod Music & Videos” no files show and I always get the message “iTunes Database on this device not recognized”. This persists even after a clean install.

How do we get help? I downloaded your program to transfer music from my phone to my pc but when I click on iphone music/video it says “There are no items to show”. I had one computer crash on me and dont want to lose my music when I sync with my new computer.

@kristin As for now iFunBox does not support new database format on iPods/Iphones with firmware 3.x. Bear with us.
@tadad1 Send your regards to Apple for jailing your own media.
Fortunately, if you will look into [Raw File System]/private/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/Music you will find all your music and videos in several directories named line “Fxy” [x and y are numbers]
Unfortunately, all the filenames are broken and you have to guess what is what. (Or look into the databeses in /private/var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/iTunes/iTunes Library.itlp – Locations.itdb and Library.itdb are those, where the informations lies)

Ok I have an iphone 3GS with blackra1n and blaksn0w. I downloaded the afcd support from Cydia. And ifunbox works apparently fine but now itunes do not recognize my device. It shows me the message that tells “your SIM card is not authorized, you should put one from authorized carrier”. Its like jailbreak never done before.
So I just uninstalled the afc2 support but the problem continues…
Somebody can help me…

Thank you, iPhone 3G with 3.1.2 unlocked with blackra1n and getting the “jailed” error with i-funbox, this worked perfectly. My 3G now works with i-funbox and itunes.

Help!!! I’ve been using your program for the past month but when I tried to use it last night, it says my device is not connected. This didn’t happen before. I’m currently on the FW 3.0.1 jailbroken 3GS. Is it because of the new update 3.1.2 and itunes 9.0.2? Do I need to update in order to use it again? I hope not….please let me know what I should do. ok so ive been sshing into my ipods and iphones recently but now it wont connect so i found your ifunbox as an alt. but after a month of using it and upgrading to itunes 9 i funbox will open up and all i get is a white screen please help as i am in need of a way to connect to test out my themes

On a daily basis I need to store large files on my iPhone. SSHing into the phone via wifi is not feasible due to slow transfer speeds. Yes, I know there are a number of s/w’s (winscp-itunnel, “ifunbox”, etc) that will get the job done via the usb calbe. However, the major downside with with the above options is that you need iTunes installed on the PC you plan on transferring files to/from. I’m sure it’s understandable that this is more than just an inconvenience.
Can a dev provide me with the appropriate drivers that I can install into the PC so that it reads the iPhone as a “iPhone” and not a camera, which is what a PC recognizes an iPhone when iTunes is not installed. This would be a much better option that installing the 70/80 odd MB iTunes on each PC I interact with.
Packaging these “drivers” along with i-funbox would be a better more feasible idea. Possible?

Iphone 2g with 3.1.2 jailbroke using blackra1n and installed the afc2add but funbox still cant find the apple mobile device runtime support….am i missing something is there a toggle or feature i have to click to enable the afc2add? my cousin jailbroke his ipod touch 2g with blackra1n and has 3.1.2 os and on his pc it works fine….tried to plug his into my pc and it wont recognize his ipod touch either…does it have something to do with me running windows 7 64bit cause i even tried running funbox in XP/vista compatibility mode?

me pasa lo mismo!!!! le instale este parche a mi iphone 3gs con firmware 3.1.2 lla con el jailbreak i ahora lla no enciende, solo aparace la manzanita de apple (valga la redudancia) i luego se apaga, tambien lo he hecho con el blackra1n para intentar que se reinicie bien, pero ni asi.
espeor nos puedan alludar!!!!! lo mas pronto posible!!!!!

Great catch 22 situation here.
I installed i-Funbox because I’ve had a problem with Cydia crashing and automatically exiting before I can do something. I’d narrowed the solution down to a faulty install of an app but I can’t SSH as I have no wifi so i-Funbox seemed to be the solution. I am seriously lacking in funds at the moment and so a wi-fi router, though cheap, is on the end of quite a long list of more important things to use my money on. Perhaps I could ask for one as a birthday present.
I thought installing i-Funbox was a good way to access the files I needed in the meantime but now I find I can’t use it unless I simply enter cydia and install something. NOT being able to enter cydia was my reason for downloading i-Funbox in the first place.
To put it bluntly: AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I have fixed myproblem. You need to install afc2add..then power off and on your iphone. Then connect ifunbox. Can view the root menu

Whe I download it and I reebot everything is erased. When I jailbreak it again and download it, I don’t reebot, but it doesn’t work. Am I doing anything wrong??

2. which firmware do you use ? 3.1.2 so you have to download “afc2add”

I have an iTouch 3rd Gen running 3.1.2 and is Jailbroken using blackra1n but ifunbox says its jailed…. should i install the afc thing? because i ve seen that some blackra1n users also had the same problem,they DLed this and something got fked up… any advice? Thanks

Nvm about my last comment.. i found an article saying that Geohot disable afc during jb on purpose due to problems being caused if he did.. i DLed it and everything is fine now..

people use ifunbox as an alternative in using itunes which is complicated for some.
BUT HOW COME IFUNBOX developers has not givin a CLEAR TUTORIAL ON HOW TO TRANSFER MUSIC AND VIDEO? which of course the most important part of it !?? There are tutorials but lacks clear instructions! for example HOW TO TRANSFER MUSIC AND VIDEO ………………. the tutorials has diagrams that has an icon with label music and video ….where we can drag and drop from pc to ipod/iphone…..but the APP HAS RECOVERY MUSIC AND VIDEO instead!!! WHERE AND WHICH PATH IN OUR DIRECTORY DO WE PUT OUR MUSIC AND VIDEO????????????!!!!!! A QUESTION THAT HAS NEVER BEEN ANSWERED!!! WHICH PATH? WHICH ICON DO WE CLICK???

You CANNOT transfer music to the ipod/phone.pad just like that (thru directory) cuz the dir is CRYPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats y u gotta use itunes… meanwhile for the MOVIES u r just dumb****s if u can’t find the dir, cuz ifunbox is great and as far as i know the best way to manually enter ipod and rip ipas or install them or transfer, u guys want music/films????? use itunes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
